 High-performance Servo motors and drivers specifically designed for robots

As an actuator in the control system, the servo motor is one of the main factors affecting the working performance of robots. The robot servo system is composed of three major parts: servo motor, servo driver and command mechanism. The servo motor is the actuator, which is used to achieve motion. The servo driver is the power source of the servo motor. The command mechanism sends pulses or provides speed to cooperate with the normal operation of the servo driver.


At present, AC and DC servo motors with high starting torque, large torque and low inertia are widely used in industrial robots. Domestic servo motors still need to make breakthroughs in the following aspects:


First, they are generally long in shape and rough in appearance, making it difficult to be applied to some high-end robots.


Second, the reliability of the signal connectors needs to be improved, and they should be optimized in the direction of miniaturization, high density, and integrated design with the servo motor body to facilitate installation, commissioning, and replacement.


The third is another core technology - high-precision encoders, especially the multi-turn [key word 285] value encoders used in robots, which are highly dependent on imports and are a major bottleneck restricting the development of high-end robots in China.


Fourth, there is a lack of fundamental research, including value encoder technology, industrial manufacturing technology of motors, and so on.


The fifth issue is that the industrial collaboration among various parts of the servo system is insufficient, which makes it difficult for the overall performance of the servo motor and drive system to be fully exerted.


Servo motors not only directly affect the market competitiveness of domestic robot enterprises, but in the long run, they also have strategic significance for the development of the entire Chinese robot industry. For this reason, the "Robot Development Plan" particularly emphasizes that through the research of technologies such as high-magnetic material optimization, integrated optimization design, and processing and assembly process optimization, the efficiency of servo motors can be improved, power loss reduced, and high power density achieved. Develop high-torque direct drive motors, disc hollow motors and other special motors for robots.
